H2S Specialist

Job Summary:
The H2S Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel working in areas where hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas may pose a threat. They develop and implement safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and provide training and guidance to employees to mitigate the risks associated with2S exposure.

Job Responsibility:
- Develop, implement and maintain H2S safety protocols, policies and procedures in compliance with government regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential sources of H2S, assess the level of risk, and propose mitigation measures.
- Monitor H2S levels in working environments using specialized instruments and equipment.
- Coordinate and supervise the installation, maintenance, and calibration of H2S detection systems.
- Provide H2S safety training to employees, contractors, and suppliers.
- Conduct regular drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of H2S safety measures and ensure employees are prepared for emergencies.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses related to H2S exposure, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and new technologies related to H2S detection and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with other departments to thatS risks are adequately addressed in project planning and execution.

Candidate Requirements:
- Associate Diploma in occupational health and safety, environmental science, , or a related field.
- Proven experience in H2S risk management, ideally in the oil & gas, chemical, or industrial sectors is preferred.
- Knowledge of H2S characteristics, hazards, and safe handling procedures.
- Understanding of applicable regulations and industry standards related to H2S safety.
- Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Good organizational skills, with the to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of H2S (hydrogen sulfide) detection, monitoring, and control procedures.
- Familiarity with different types of H2S detection equipment and personal protective equipment (PE to conduct H2S risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Proficient in using various sampling and testing methods to measure H2S concentrations.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to H2S safety.
- Excellent communication and training skills to educate workers on H2S hazards and safety protocols.
- Ability to respond to H2S incidents and emergencies effectively and efficiently.
- Attention to detail and high level of alertness to identify potential H2S sources and hazards.
- Problem-solving skills troub2S monitoring equipment and coordinate necessary repairs.
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate with other H2S specialists and safety personnel.
