JOB PURPOSE
The Port Engineer is a specialized field technical supervisor responsible for the coordination and execution of maintenance activities for assigned Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs). The core mandate is to ensure the assigned vessels maintain a state of continuous CLIENT technical readiness and operational uptime. This is achieved by supervising maintenance quality, managing day-to-day repairs, and providing technical guidance to vessel crews to ensure compliance with company and client standards.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1. Operational Execution & Maintenance
· Maintenance Supervision: Oversee routine, corrective, and urgent emergency maintenance activities for assigned vessels. Assist in troubleshooting technical faults to minimize vessel off-hire time.
· PMS Compliance: Monitor and drive compliance with the Planned Maintenance System (PMS/CMMS). Verify that planned work is completed and technical records are accurately maintained.
· Logistics & Field Support: Coordinate with local contractors, workshops, and shore teams at the Tanajib base to facilitate the efficient delivery of spares and technical services.
· Cost Monitoring: Monitor maintenance spending for assigned vessels, ensuring repairs are conducted cost-effectively and in line with procurement policies.
2. ARAMCO Compliance and Vetting Readiness
· Vetting Support: Assist in the technical preparation for all client and regulatory surveys, including CLIENT Vetting, LIMS inspections, and quarterly Marine Specialist audits.
· Regulatory Assurance: Verify technical compliance with all statutory, Flag State, Class, and ISM/ISPS requirements, specifically adhering to Aramco marine standards.
· Incident Support: Support technical investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures, ensuring fixes are implemented and findings are reported to the Technical Superintendent.
· Documentation: Ensure all technical logs and maintenance records are accurate and ready for immediate inspection by regulatory bodies or clients.
3. Reporting & Technical Guidance
· Communication: Provide regular technical status reports to the Technical Superintendent regarding vessel readiness, maintenance progress, and operational risks.
· Crew Support: Act as a technical resource for onboard Chief Engineers, providing guidance to enhance troubleshooting and technical self-sufficiency.
· Handover Protocol: Monitor the execution of technical handover procedures between incoming and outgoing Chief Engineers.
Relief Duty: Maintain a valid Chief Engineer Unlimited CoC to serve as a qualified relief if operational necessity dictates

Education Qualifications
· Essential: Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
Years of Experience
· Sea-Going Experience: Minimum of 48 months of active sea-going experience as Chief Engineer on Offshore Support Vessels (AHTS)
· Industry Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in the marine industry.
· Vetting Knowledge: Practical experience with major client vetting procedures (e.g., CLIENT Vetting, LIMS). Experience in the Tanajib area is preferred.
Certifications & Skills
· Certification: Possession of a valid Chief Engineer Unlimited Certificate of Competency (CoC) (STCW III/2).
· Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of DP Maintenance and FMEA/Annual DP Trials.
· Software Proficiency: Proficiency in planned maintenance software (e.g., AMOS, TM Master, NS5).
· Language: English fluency is mandatory (written and spoken).
